The materials we shape
Sia Taylor Studio The Garnered 46

We believe in the art of slow craft. And the slow, traditional techniques that we use are what makes the jewellery what it is. It’s a privilege to work with precious metals and we treat these materials with love and respect.

Crafting jewellery by hand is at the heart of our creative process. The time and patience taken gives the piece a soul that reflects the story of its making.

Rooted in fine art rather than traditional jewellery, Sia’s creative language has never centred on gemstones. Yet her love of colour has always been central, leading her first to combine yellow and white gold in her pieces, and later to develop a simple palette of golds that has become a signature of her work.

Sia uses these colours much as she would in a painting, instinctively arranging and rearranging them until she finds a balance that reflects the mood of the idea.

Recently, Sia has worked closely with metallurgists to develop new alloys, allowing a broader spectrum of colour to enter the work. These hues are created through precious metals of varying purities and through both existing and bespoke blends of 14 – 24 carat gold in yellow, white, and rose.

With the reintroduction of silver alongside these tones, Sia’s artistic palette continues to grow — always remaining true to her love of metal itself, and to the slow, intentional practice of hand-cutting each piece from sheet.
